How To Become A Member of The Church of the Nativity

* If you are a confirmed Episcopalian and have been a member of another Episcopal parish or mission, you may contact the Nativity office to request a letter of transfer from your former congregation.

* If you are a member of another Christian tradition, you will be asked to provide some proof or testimony of your baptism (which makes you a "baptized member" of the Episcopal Church). Then, after preparation, you re-affirm your faith and are welcomed as a "confirmed member" of the Episcopal Church by the Bishop. There is logic in the requirement of preparation, since the step being taken is not a casual one; there is logic, as well, in the requirement of being welcomed by the Bishop, since "Episcopalian" means "pertaining to Bishops." Preparation takes place through a series of seminars offered several times each year. Speak to the Rector for details about when these seminars are offered.

* If you are not yet baptized, you can prepare for the Sacrament of Baptism. Speak to the Rector to discuss your desire to be baptized.
